Mateo’s Big Lesson in Giving

Dan gave a nickel to five-year-old Mateo at Casa Victoria, and Mateo, thrilled, treated it like a treasure. He proudly showed it to the other children, imagining all the things he could buy with it. The other kids, seeing Mateo’s joy, hoped for their own coins, so Dan showed them the Casa Victoria "Piggy Bank" and explained that instead of asking for money, they could contribute to a bigger goal: buying the house next door to help more children.

Inspired by Dan’s explanation, Mateo approached the Piggy Bank, opened his hand, and with a big grin said, “I want to help buy the house next door.” He then placed his precious nickel into the jar, demonstrating a heartfelt understanding of giving and contributing to a shared dream.

We have expanded our support by partnering with foundations that will use Ecuador Mi País to receive donations on their behalf. These include Caritas Ecuador, Hogar del Niño San Vicente de Paul, and Fundación Lo Que De Verdad Importa, allowing us to extend our impact and help more vulnerable communities in Ecuador.
